About
The goal of my PhD research is to investigate how emotional states (positive or negative mood), facial expression and global/local level of detail affect one another. Emotional states have different effects on cognitive processes; it means that emotional states can influence the way we perceive our environment. This effect is more considerable when we encounter social stimuli like the human face. This research aims to study the interaction of emotional states of people and face perception. It will also consider whether emotional states tend to conduct the attention to perceive the face as a whole (global level) or direct it towards face details (local level). This research intends to fill a gap in previous findings which have looked at these three factors in relative isolation.
